10 AI Companies Achieved Unicorn Status In June
Thirty-four companies joined the Crunchbase Unicorn Board in June, with ten AI labs achieving a collective valuation of $65 billion.

A total of 34 companies joined the Crunchbase Unicorn Board in June, adding over $110 billion in collective value. Among these, ten were AI labs, reaching a combined valuation of $65 billion.
Beijing-based DeepSeek, an open-source model developer, was the most valuable new unicorn of the year, valued at $50 billion. The new AI labs are concentrating on novel architectures for AI model development in areas such as robotics, physics, and self-learning, as well as open-source initiatives. Notably, one Indian startup is developing sovereign AI.
Other prominent sectors with multiple new unicorns included robotics and AI infrastructure, each welcoming four companies. The United States led in new unicorns with 16, followed by China with eight. India, Germany, and the United Kingdom each added two, while Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia contributed one each.
Despite the influx of new companies, the total value of the Unicorn Board decreased by over $1 trillion in June, largely due to SpaceX going public. Other significant exits included Anysphere, maker of the AI coding tool Cursor, acquired by SpaceX for $60 billion, and AI infrastructure firm Modular, acquired by Qualcomm.
