101 Mobility Long Island Owner Featured on NBC's TODAY Show
Kim Kuester, owner of 101 Mobility Long Island, appeared on NBC's TODAY show in a segment discussing how technology and home modifications help older adults stay safely in their homes.

Kim Kuester, president and owner of 101 Mobility Long Island, was featured on NBC's TODAY show on August 22, 2026. The segment, "How New Tech is Helping Aging Adults Stay in Their Home," focused on how technology and home modifications assist older adults in remaining in their own residences rather than relocating.
The segment highlighted an 88 and 92-year-old couple who have lived in the same Long Island home for 60 years. Kuester, a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, was interviewed about the modifications her team installed, including a ramp, a stairlift, and bathroom grab bars, enabling the couple to continue living in their home. The cost for these modifications was estimated at approximately $10,000, contrasted with average retirement facility costs of $3,000 per month.
101 Mobility Long Island installs and services stairlifts, wheelchair ramps, vertical platform lifts, patient lifts, and bathroom safety modifications for households across Nassau and Suffolk counties. Most installations are completed in a single visit, and the company offers free in-home assessments.
"People assume making a home accessible means a renovation and a huge bill. It usually does not," Kuester said. "A ramp, a stairlift, a few changes in the bathroom, and a house that felt unsafe becomes workable again. I want families to know there is a lot of room between doing nothing and moving out."
101 Mobility is a national provider of home and commercial accessibility solutions, with locally owned and operated locations across the United States and Canada. According to AARP, 75 percent of older Americans want to stay in their homes as they age.
