10x Science Hires Second Employee Through Y Combinator Platform
Serial entrepreneur David Mount has joined 10x Science as its second employee following a rigorous technical trial facilitated by Y Combinator's job board.

10x Science, a startup currently participating in Y Combinator’s W26 batch, has expanded its team by hiring David Mount as its second employee. Mount, who has previously founded four companies, connected with the startup through Y Combinator’s 'Work at a Startup' platform after his previous venture ceased operations.
The recruitment process involved an intensive two-day onsite technical trial. Rather than traditional interviews, candidates are tasked with solving complex problems involving proteomics, deep AI theory, and proprietary application frameworks. The firm utilizes this method to assess a candidate's ability to operate under significant pressure and manage steep learning curves.
10x Science develops AI systems designed to process scientific data, aiming to accelerate discovery in biotechnology and pharmacology. Mount’s role spans full-stack development, agent orchestration, and the construction of analytical routines. As the company seeks to scale its operations, it continues to target engineers capable of navigating complex scientific and technical challenges.
