The 11th Global Mazu Culture Forum opened on November 1 on Meizhou Island in Putian, China, highlighting advancements in maritime disaster mitigation and cultural preservation. The event brought together international participants to discuss the intersection of heritage and modern technology.

Key announcements included the release of China's first national case studies on maritime hazard mitigation and the introduction of the Mass Conservation Ocean Model (MaCOM) version 2.0. Additionally, China provided Sri Lanka with an intelligent meteorological early warning system as part of a bilateral cooperation agreement.

The event featured ten sub-forums covering topics ranging from marine economy and mangrove ecology to international cooperation between China and Brazil. The proceedings concluded with the adoption of the Meizhou Declaration, which outlines a consensus on the core values of Mazu culture.

First launched in 2016, the annual forum now facilitates cultural and tourism exchanges across 52 countries. This year’s event was supported by 13 satellite locations globally, allowing international stakeholders to monitor the proceedings via video link.
