Overclocker Luumi has set a new world record on the HWBot platform for the Intel Core i5-4670K processor in the Cinebench R11.5 multi-core benchmark. The achievement dethroned a 12-year-old record, with the processor reaching a score of 10.8 cb after being overclocked to 6.3 GHz.

The system used for the record-breaking attempt featured the 4-core, 8-thread Intel Core i5-4670K, a Haswell-era chip. This processor, originally released with a base clock of 3.4 GHz and a boost clock of 3.8 GHz, was pushed to extreme limits using liquid nitrogen for cooling.

Luumi's setup included an ASRock Z97 OC Formula motherboard, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and a Corsair AX1600i power supply. The extreme cooling provided by liquid nitrogen was crucial for stabilizing the processor at the unprecedented 6.3 GHz frequency required for the benchmark.

While this record is specific to the i5-4670K in Cinebench R11.5, it highlights the potential of older hardware when subjected to extreme overclocking techniques. The achievement stands out in a field often dominated by the latest high-end components, demonstrating that dedication and specialized methods can still yield remarkable results with legacy processors.
