16th China-Russia Culture Fair Sub-venue Opens in Jiamusi

A sub-venue for the 16th China-Russia Culture Fair commenced on July 10 in Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province, located in northeast China. Co-hosted by departments from both nations, the fair seeks to bolster cross-border cultural and tourism ties.

The Jiamusi sub-venue will host a total of 19 events, leveraging the city's proximity to Russia. An opening gala featured joint performances by Chinese and Russian artists, blending the intangible cultural heritage of the Hezhe ethnic group with Russian songs and dances, alongside Peking Opera and folk melodies from Russia's Far East.

Representatives from Russia's Khabarovsk region promoted local tourism resources, customs, and landscapes at the event. Jiamusi is scheduled to host a series of China-Russia cultural exchange activities from July to September. These include tourism and culture promotion events, intangible cultural heritage and craft markets, food festivals, artistic performances, and film screenings.

The initiative aims to establish an internationally influential platform for cultural and tourism exchanges, foster new consumption scenarios, strengthen Jiamusi's role as a border tourism hub, and support Heilongjiang Province's objective of becoming a gateway for northern engagement.
