277 Nominees for 2027 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award

A total of 277 candidates from 80 countries and regions have been nominated for the 2027 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. Of these, 85 are new to the list. The roster of nominees is considered one of the most comprehensive compilations of global children's book creators and promoters of reading.

The laureate is scheduled to be announced on April 6, 2027. The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is the world's largest award in the field of children's and youth literature, recognizing accomplished authors, illustrators, and reading promoters.

The award jury has noted the high level of interest in nominations and the increasing geographical diversity on the list, reflecting the award's growing international significance. The jury's role is to identify and highlight the world's best children's books and initiatives that encourage reading.

The award, named after the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, has been presented annually since 2002. The prize money amounts to five million Swedish kronor (approximately 450,000 euros).
