2Gether-International and Making Space Complete Workforce Development Program
A workforce development program, supported by Truist Foundation, has concluded, successfully placing 70 professionals with disabilities in executive-track apprenticeships across the Southeastern U.S.
WASHINGTON, Sept. 30, 2026 – 2Gether-International (2GI) and Making Space announced the completion of their comprehensive workforce development strategy for professionals with disabilities. Supported by a grant from the Truist Foundation, the initiative expanded disability-inclusive workforce development and created pathways to economic mobility across the Southeastern United States.
The program, building on Making Space's original Ascend program, combined peer cohort learning, one-on-one mentorship, and employer engagement with AI-powered career navigation tools. It also incorporated wraparound supports such as financial literacy, ABLE account education, and benefits counseling, alongside employer training.
Key outcomes of the initiative include the placement of 70 professionals with disabilities into executive-track apprenticeship opportunities. Additionally, 17 participants secured full-time competitive employment, and six pursued freelance or contract work. Ten participants established ABLE accounts to enhance their financial security, and 12 accessed other benefits programs.
Diego Mariscal, CEO and Founder of 2Gether-International, stated that the Truist Foundation's grant signaled institutional investment in a disability-led model of workforce development. He highlighted that the program's results demonstrate the impact of providing professionals with disabilities access to community, mentorship, technology, and financial support for career advancement. The strategy aimed to address structural barriers and equip participants with the necessary skills, confidence, and resources for career progression.
