The Committee for Netizen Rights and Personal Information Protection of the Internet Society of China hosted a forum on netizen rights and personal information protection in Beijing on July 9, 2026, as part of the 25th China Internet Conference.

During the event, the "Self-Regulatory Accord for the Protection of Personal Information of Intelligent Agents" was jointly released. Thirty-one internet companies, including Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, and Volcano Engine, were the first to sign the accord. The initiative aims to establish comprehensive self-regulatory guidelines for the processing of personal information by intelligent agents.

The release intends to guide companies in maintaining a baseline for personal information protection while advancing technological innovation. This comes as intelligent agent technology is increasingly integrated into internet services, presenting new challenges for data privacy alongside improvements in service efficiency.

In addition, the Internet Society of China officially released the "Self-Regulatory Accord for the Healthy Development of the Mini-Program Ecosystem." Eight major mini-program platforms, including Tencent and Ant Group, signed this agreement at the event.
