5 AI Delusions That Could Derail Your Business
A new article identifies five common misconceptions about AI adoption that risk leading to business failure rather than improvement.

Inc. Magazine has published an article highlighting five prevalent "delusions" regarding artificial intelligence that could potentially derail business operations.
The article suggests that leaders often lose sight of their strategic goals through a series of gradual, seemingly reasonable assumptions, a phenomenon termed "delirium." This can lead to decisions that overlook costs and fail to address original problems.
Among the five dangerous AI beliefs identified is the assumption that increased individual productivity due to AI automatically translates to improved overall organizational performance. While 75 percent of digital workers report higher productivity with AI, only 13 percent believe it has significantly boosted their organization's outcomes.
This discrepancy is partly attributed to "coordination neglect." When individuals use AI to accelerate their tasks, they may offload more review and cleanup work onto downstream colleagues. An hour saved by one employee could result in 30 minutes of extra work for three others.
The piece urges business leaders to critically assess the tangible benefits and costs of AI at an organizational level, emphasizing the need to avoid pitfalls and ensure AI investments align with strategic objectives.
