The Swedish Norrsken Foundation has released its annual list of the world's 100 most promising impact startups. This year, 68 companies based in Europe made the cut, representing a significant portion of the overall ranking.
The selection of startups is based on investor assessments of 1,193 companies. Energy technology dominated the list, with cleantech and AI-focused companies from Europe also showing strong representation.
Investment in the impact sector is growing, with increasing focus on sustainability and social impact in companies' research and development. This trend is reflected in investment decisions.
According to Norrsken CEO Eduards Kalinins, the list aims to spotlight companies using technology to address the world's most pressing problems. Despite the rise in European companies featured, startups from North America and Asia continue to dominate global impact investing.
