A Penteadora converts textile waste into industrial nonwovens with ANDRITZ equipment
Portuguese company A Penteadora SA has commissioned new ANDRITZ mechanical textile recycling and needlepunch nonwoven production lines. The investment enables the processing of textile waste into materials for industrial applications.

Portuguese textile manufacturer A Penteadora SA has commissioned two new production systems from ANDRITZ at its facility in Unhais da Serra, Portugal. The investment includes a mechanical textile recycling line and a needlepunch nonwoven line, enabling the conversion of pre- and post-consumer textile waste into materials for industrial uses.
The new lines are now fully operational, with the first products expected to reach the market in July. A key feature of the installation is advanced picker technology designed to remove hard elements such as buttons and zippers from textile waste, aiming to improve material quality and process efficiency.
The recycling line performs cutting, blending, fiber opening, and carding, and is designed to handle complex textile inputs including wool-synthetic blends and technical fibers. The accompanying needlepunch line will produce nonwoven materials for applications such as thermal insulation, acoustic barriers, and protective solutions.
A Penteadora, part of the Paulo de Oliveira Group, stated that the new equipment supports its commitment to circular production and sustainability by transforming textile waste into higher-value materials and creating new business opportunities.
