A&B Couture acquires majority stake in Italian knitwear specialist Bertan
French garment group A&B Couture has acquired a majority stake in Italian manufacturer Bertan, known for its luxury knitwear. The transaction creates a franco-Italian platform for luxury apparel development and production.
French garment group A&B Couture has acquired a majority stake in Bertan, an Italian workshop renowned for its expertise in luxury knitwear production. Bertan, based in Borgoricco, Italy, has been producing garments for several high-end fashion houses since 1965.
The acquisition aims to establish an integrated franco-Italian platform for the development and manufacturing of luxury apparel. A&B Couture stated its intention to preserve Bertan's established know-how and workforce while supporting its industrial development and international reach.
Bertan's specialization in luxury knitwear complements A&B Couture's existing production capabilities, which primarily focus on Made in France garments. This move is expected to strengthen A&B Couture's position as a strategic partner to major fashion houses.
A&B Couture operates six manufacturing facilities in Vendée, France, and includes design offices. The company holds the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (EPV) label, recognizing it as a living heritage company.
Bertan CEO Mara Bertan expressed optimism for a new chapter, while A&B Couture President Tristan Henner emphasized the commitment to maintaining Bertan's identity and expertise.
