Abbott Laboratories reports third-quarter financial results

Abbott Laboratories reported growth in both revenue and profit for the third quarter of 2026, aligning with analyst expectations. Comparable sales grew by 7.0 percent, while adjusted diluted earnings per share reached $1.42, a 9.2 percent increase over the previous year. GAAP diluted earnings per share were reported at $0.53.

The company’s nutrition segment saw a 4.9 percent sales increase, rebounding following a focus on volume and price-driven growth. Performance was supported by strong demand for pediatric nutrition products in the U.S. and the introduction of new offerings, including a whole-milk-based infant formula.

Medical device sales grew by 7.8 percent, led by a 15.5 percent increase in the electrophysiology division. CEO Robert Ford stated that the growth is tied to the accelerated adoption of the company's Volt pulsed field ablation (PFA) system following its full U.S. market release in August. Internationally, Abbott continues to gain market share in Europe through its updated PFA catheter portfolio.

Abbott secured five product approvals during the quarter. Key additions include the Libre Duo 10 Day, a dual glucose and ketone monitoring system scheduled for U.S. launch in December, and the Amulet 360 LAA occluder for stroke risk reduction in patients with atrial fibrillation.
