Abbott Showcases Health Tech Innovations at China Import Expo

Global healthcare company Abbott showcased its key innovations at the sixth China International Import Expo in Shanghai. The company presented advanced life science technologies across its core businesses: diagnostics, medical devices, nutrition, and pharmaceuticals.

Among the highlights was the Asian debut of Abbott's AVEIR™ DR dual-chamber leadless pacemaker system. Abbott states this is the world's first approved wireless dual-chamber system designed to independently stimulate both the right atrium and right ventricle of the heart.

Other innovations on display included an upgraded fourth-generation MitraClip™ transcatheter mitral valve repair device, the HeartMate 3™ left ventricular assist system for advanced heart failure patients, and the FreeStyle Libre continuous glucose monitoring system. Abbott also introduced a new WeChat mini-program in China to support diabetes management.

Abbott also presented new diagnostic tools, including a combined test for Influenza A, B, and COVID-19, a new nutritional formula for the elderly and recovering individuals, and a new optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging catheter for visualizing the inside of blood vessels.

The company noted the successful adoption of several previously exhibited technologies in China, such as the MitraClip™ device and the FreeStyle Libre system. Abbott's participation marked its fourth consecutive year at the import expo, emphasizing its commitment to making healthcare more accessible through technological advancements.
