Abbott's FreeStyle Libre 3 CGM System Receives CE Mark

Abbott Laboratories has announced it has received the CE Mark for its FreeStyle Libre 3 system, designed for diabetes management. The company characterizes the device as the world's smallest, thinnest, and most discreet continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor.

The new sensor delivers real-time glucose readings directly to a smartphone every minute and is designed to offer 14 days of accuracy. Abbott states the device maintains the same affordable price as its previous versions, aiming to increase accessibility to the technology.

FreeStyle Libre 3 follows Abbott's previous CGM devices, including the FreeStyle Libre and Libre 2. The company has focused on reducing the device's size and enhancing features such as alert functionalities and interoperability with other diabetes care technologies.

Obtaining the CE Mark is a prerequisite for selling the device within the European Economic Area. Abbott has actively pursued integrations with other diabetes industry players to offer more comprehensive care solutions.
