AbbVie presented 20 new scientific abstracts from its inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) portfolio at the United European Gastroenterology (UEG) Week 2026 in Barcelona. The presentations focused on long-term clinical and endoscopic outcomes for the company's SKYRIZI® (risankizumab) and RINVOQ® (upadacitinib) therapies.

The data aimed to provide deeper insights into how these treatments affect patients with moderate to severe Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis over approximately three years of follow-up. AbbVie emphasized its ongoing research into IBD treatments, considering both long-term use and real-world clinical practice.

Among the presented findings were long-term results for risankizumab in ulcerative colitis, showing sustained clinical and endoscopic outcomes up to three years of maintenance treatment. Similarly, upadacitinib data demonstrated maintained outcomes for up to approximately four years of treatment in Crohn's disease.

Additionally, real-world data on upadacitinib use in Crohn's disease was presented, including the time to first clinical response. The data also indicated that patients switching from a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor to upadacitinib experienced fewer IBD-related hospitalizations and surgeries compared to those switching to another TNF inhibitor.

AbbVie also presented new data on the investigational dual-targeting therapy ABBV-466 for patients with Crohn's disease. The company highlighted that the presented data supports its commitment to improving long-term outcomes for IBD patients.
