ABDA: 2,000 Pharmacies Offer COVID-19 Rapid Tests for Holiday Weekend

Berlin – The German Pharmacists Association (ABDA) has announced that approximately 2,000 pharmacies nationwide are now registered to provide free SARS-CoV-2 rapid tests. The largest numbers of participating pharmacies are located in Bavaria (600), North Rhine-Westphalia (300), and Baden-Württemberg (300).

These pharmacies offer rapid antigen tests, providing certificates that can be used for entry into restaurants, cultural and sporting events, and for tourist activities. The rollout is intended to support the easing of COVID-19 restrictions for the upcoming Whitsun holiday weekend.

A list of participating pharmacies can be found on the consumer portal www.mein-apothekenmanager.de. ABDA also noted that additional pharmacies are registered on municipal or state-specific portals. The association stated that this service has been available to all German pharmacies since late 2020.

Pharmacies wishing to offer testing services can register and report their services through the professional portal at www.mein-apothekenportal.de. The data from these pharmacies is slated for integration into the national e-prescription app in the future.
