ABDA Advises on Packing Travel First-Aid Kits

The German Federal Association of Pharmacists (ABDA) is advising travelers on the importance of packing a well-equipped travel first-aid kit. The guidance aims to ensure individuals are prepared for potential illnesses or injuries while on vacation.

Dr. Ursula Sellerberg, spokesperson for ABDA, emphasized in an interview with rbb that the contents of a travel kit should be tailored to the specific destination and travel activities. Recommendations vary based on whether the trip involves hiking, swimming, or long-distance travel, with common suggestions including blister plasters, insect repellent, sunscreen, and diarrhea medication.

For individuals who take regular medication, Dr. Sellerberg advised packing approximately one-third more than the calculated need. This buffer aims to cover situations where luggage may be delayed or travel plans are interrupted.

The advice from ABDA highlights the importance of proactive health preparation for travelers. The association suggests consulting with a pharmacist for personalized recommendations to ensure a comprehensive and suitable travel first-aid kit.
