ABDA Publishes Data Protection Information for Social Media Pages
The German Association of Pharmacists (ABDA) has released detailed information regarding its data processing practices on its social media channels.

The German Association of Pharmacists (ABDA – Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Apothekerverbände e. V.) has published comprehensive information on its website concerning the processing of personal data on its social media channels. The disclosures are made in accordance with Articles 13 and 14 of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
ABDA maintains a presence on various social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, SoundCloud, LinkedIn, XING, and TikTok. The association emphasizes that both ABDA and the respective platform operator are responsible for the processing of user personal data. ABDA states that, within the scope of its capabilities, it will influence platform operations to ensure data protection practices.
The association clarifies that data entered by users on its social media pages, such as usernames, comments, videos, images, and likes, are published by the platform and are not processed by ABDA for other purposes. ABDA reserves the right to delete content if necessary and communicates with users via the platforms. If users submit inquiries through social media, ABDA may direct them to more secure communication channels to ensure confidentiality.
ABDA indicates that the legal basis for data processing is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, relating to the association's legitimate interest in public relations and communication. The association also notes that social media platforms generate usage statistics over which ABDA has no control. Detailed information and contact details are available on ABDA's website.
