ABDA Reports Positive Results for Fiscal Year

Franziska Erdle, CEO of the German Pharmacists' Association (ABDA), presented a positive assessment of the 2025/2026 fiscal year at the German Pharmacists' Day event. The central theme of her report was the pharmacy reform package, which ABDA addressed through an extensive political campaign, including nationwide protests.

Erdle expressed her personal impression of the pharmacy sector's unity during the protest phase in March 2026. She also highlighted the significant media attention generated by the protests, with over 3,500 media contributions reaching a potential audience of approximately 1.1 billion media contacts. The accompanying campaign materials were downloaded around 185,000 times, exceeding comparable campaigns by more than sevenfold.

Erdle cited key political achievements from the past fiscal year, including an increase in the fixed fee per package, new perspectives for future remuneration negotiations, and the inclusion of numerous ABDA demands in the Pharmacy Care Development Act (ApoVWG). These include expanded vaccination services, medication management, and further pharmaceutical services.

However, Erdle emphasized that the economic stabilization of pharmacies remains a significant challenge. ABDA plans to continue strengthening the role of pharmacies in primary care, establishing new service models, and firmly representing the interests of the pharmacy sector at both national and European levels.
