ABDA reports stable medicine supply for winter season
The German Federal Union of Associations of Pharmacists (ABDA) states that supply chains for seasonal medications remain secure heading into winter.

ABDA President Thomas Preis confirmed that pharmacies do not anticipate significant shortages of essential seasonal medicines, including antibiotics and fever reducers. According to leadership, the supply situation has stabilized compared to previous years.
This improved outlook is attributed to legislative changes requiring manufacturers and insurance providers to maintain local stockpiles within Germany. These regulatory adjustments aim to mitigate the impact of supply chain disruptions that previously caused localized shortages.
Beyond basic dispensing, pharmacies are expanding their footprint in primary care. Regional pharmacy associations have signaled intent to broaden their vaccination services, moving beyond flu shots to provide a wider range of preventative health measures to patients.
