ABL to Survey Papua New Guinea's First Offshore Floating Facility

ABL, a global consultancy firm, will provide marine warranty survey services for a new floating storage and offloading (FSO) facility to be deployed offshore Papua New Guinea. The facility, operated by Oil Search (PNG) Limited, a subsidiary of Santos Ltd, will be the country's first offshore floating installation.

Located at the Kumul Marine Terminal as part of the Kutubu Pipeline System, the FSO will store and offload liquid hydrocarbons, including crude oil and condensate. Associated gas from the operations will be directed to the PNG LNG Project, marking a significant step in the country's energy infrastructure.

ABL's scope includes international and offshore activities, encompassing the supervision of pipe load-out operations in India, equipment load-out in Indonesia, and flexible riser load-out in the United Kingdom. The company will also approve pipelaying operations, mooring installation, FSO hook-up, and riser pull-in activities in Papua New Guinea.

The project will be managed by ABL's Australian operation, with support from its offices in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the UK. The work is scheduled to continue through 2028. These survey services are critical for ensuring the safe execution and regulatory compliance of the complex marine operations involved.
