Abu Dhabi and OpenAI Sign Four Strategic AI Agreements
Abu Dhabi officials and OpenAI have finalized four agreements to integrate artificial intelligence into the energy, government, and investment sectors.
Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to formalize a series of strategic collaborations aimed at embedding AI technology into the emirate's core infrastructure. The agreements span four key areas of development.
In the energy sector, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) will deploy OpenAI's models to improve operational efficiency and decision-making. Simultaneously, the Abu Dhabi government has initiated a 'Machine-Readable Government' program, designed to convert regulations into code. This system allows AI to assist in administrative processes, such as permit issuance, while maintaining human oversight for final decision-making.
Financial investments are also a primary focus, with the sovereign wealth fund Mubadala partnering with OpenAI to apply advanced AI to investment analysis and risk assessment. Additionally, a five-year agreement between Inception42 and OpenAI seeks to scale enterprise AI solutions across educational and business sectors within the region.
All deployed systems will rely on local data centers and GPU infrastructure within the UAE, ensuring local data residency and optimized processing speeds.
