ACA Open Enrollment for 2027 Underway With Revised Federal Requirements
The 2027 ACA Marketplace open enrollment period has begun, introducing new identity verification and tax compliance rules for applicants.

The open enrollment period for 2027 Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance plans began on November 1 and is scheduled to close on January 15, 2027. Consumers seeking coverage beginning January 1 must submit their applications by December 15.
Madrinas Insurance, a bilingual agency based in Miami, is providing support to navigate updated federal enrollment protocols. These changes include a requirement for applicants to verify their insurance agents via digital links and enhanced identity checks for new users. Additionally, households are now responsible for repaying any premium tax credits received in excess of their eligibility, starting with the 2026 tax year.
CFO Vanessa Marie Vazquez advised consumers to review plan details rather than defaulting to auto-renewal. The agency, which coordinates with several regional and national carriers, also assists individuals transitioning from Medicaid to private Marketplace plans as state eligibility requirements shift.
