Activision Confirms Cross-Play for Call of Duty: Black Ops 1/2 on PS4 and PS5
Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 will support cross-generational matchmaking between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. The games will not support connections with PS3 or other platforms.

Los Angeles, CA – Activision has confirmed that players can now engage in online multiplayer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 across PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. This feature allows players on both console generations to matchmake together.
The confirmation addresses player uncertainty regarding cross-generational play for these two titles, originally released in 2010 and 2012 respectively. Many players believed the games lacked this capability after their recent launch on Sony's current-generation consoles.
Activision clarified that while PS4 and PS5 players can connect, the games do not support matchmaking with PlayStation 3 or any other gaming platforms. Additionally, the company stated that season pass holders will be able to matchmake with players who do not own a season pass.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 was originally released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, followed by Black Ops 2 which also launched on Wii U. Both titles are currently available for purchase on the PlayStation Store.
The games are priced at $39.99 each, with a discounted price of $19.99 available for PlayStation Plus members during the launch period.
