Ad Council Launches Maternal Mental Health Campaign
The Ad Council has launched "El Secreto de la Maternidad," a maternal mental health initiative aimed at encouraging new and expectant mothers to prioritize their well-being.

The Ad Council has introduced "El Secreto de la Maternidad" (The Secret of Motherhood), a new initiative focused on maternal mental health. The campaign aims to encourage new and expectant mothers to prioritize their mental well-being as an essential part of self-care and infant care.
Supported by the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and Huntsman Mental Health Foundation, the campaign is part of the Ad Council's broader "Con Amor, Tu Mente" (With Love, Your Mind) effort. A new series of public service announcements, titled "¿Cuál es su secreto?" (What's your secret?), seeks to normalize postpartum mental health conditions, which affect one in five mothers.
Statistics indicate that a significant portion of these conditions go untreated, largely due to stigma. The campaign offers tools and resources for mothers experiencing difficult emotions, emphasizing that they are not alone. A resource center is available at ConAmorTuMente.com/mama.
The campaign challenges the pressure for perfection that can prevent mothers from speaking openly and seeking help. "The real secret of motherhood is not having all the answers. It’s knowing that you don’t have to go through this alone," said Heidi Arthur, Chief Campaign and Program Officer at the Ad Council.
