ADAC Roadside Assistance Responded to 3.7 Million Calls in 2025

ADAC, Germany's largest automotive club, released its 2025 roadside assistance statistics, detailing a total of 3,691,813 rescue missions. This equates to an average of over 10,000 missions per day undertaken by ADAC's "Yellow Angels." The number of call-outs saw a 1.6 percent increase compared to 2024, when 3,633,154 missions were recorded.

Several factors contributed to this rise, including the increasing average age of vehicles in Germany and a general increase in traffic volume. December 2025 was particularly busy, with a record 18,588 rescue missions on December 29th, likely due to cold weather and icy road conditions around the year-end holidays.

As in previous years, battery issues were the most frequent cause of breakdowns, accounting for 45.4 percent of all ADAC roadside assistance interventions. Engine problems or issues with engine management systems were the second most common cause at 21.8 percent, followed by problems with the generator, starter motor, or lighting at 10.4 percent.

Assistance for electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids also saw a notable increase. ADAC recorded 50,445 interventions for pure EVs, a 15.5 percent rise from the previous year. Plug-in hybrid vehicles required assistance nearly 60,000 times, marking a 13.3 percent increase. The organization's roadside assistance for bicycles also grew, with 19,455 missions, an increase of 2,521 compared to the prior year, most commonly due to flat tires.
