ADAC to increase membership fees in 2027 due to rising costs
The German automobile club ADAC will raise its membership fees starting January 1, 2027, marking the first adjustment in over six years. The increase is attributed to rising operational costs and expanded services.
ADAC, Germany's largest automobile club, has announced an upcoming adjustment to its membership fees, scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027. This marks the first increase in over six years, with the last adjustment occurring in 2020.
The organization cites significant cost increases as the primary reason for the change. Between 2020 and 2026, the general cost of living has risen by 24.4 percent. Specifically, the average cost for a single roadside assistance incident has increased by as much as 27 percent, according to ADAC. This rise is linked to escalating expenses for energy, spare parts, personnel, and towing or workshop services.
ADAC also points to the continuous development and expansion of its member services as a factor necessitating the fee adjustment. Recent additions include services like a locksmith emergency service and roadside assistance for bicycles. To maintain the quality of these services and to support its growing membership base, the organization deems the fee adjustment necessary.
The new membership fees will be reflected in bills sent to members starting mid-November 2026, depending on the individual member's contract date. For example, the annual fee for a basic membership will increase from 54 euros to 64 euros, the Plus membership from 94 euros to 114 euros, and the Premium membership from 139 euros to 174 euros.
