ADAPT Opens Smart Living Center for Accessible Technology

ADAPT Community Network officially opened its Smart Living Center in New York on Tuesday, a new facility designed to demonstrate accessible and adaptive technologies for individuals with disabilities. The center provides a realistic home setting where people can experience firsthand how assistive technologies can enhance independence, safety, and community participation.

The opening event featured tours of the Smart Living Center and a resource expo highlighting various adaptive technologies. A panel discussion, "Adaptive Technology Progress and Innovation through Partnership," brought together experts from organizations such as ShiftAbility and the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, alongside self-advocates from ADAPT.

The Smart Living Center expands upon ADAPT Community Network's long-standing work in assistive and adaptive technology. The facility will serve as an ongoing space for collaboration among technology companies, researchers, funders, and public sector partners to foster innovation and improve access to technological solutions. ADAPT will also host regular tours and special events for individuals and professionals.

ADAPT Community Network is a non-profit organization providing human services to individuals with disabilities across New York. The organization operates 100 programs that support over 20,000 children and adults daily in areas including education, technology, healthcare, housing, and recreation.
