Adobe adds generative AI feature to Lightroom mobile for eye correction
Adobe has integrated a new generative AI tool into its Lightroom mobile application that allows users to digitally open closed eyes in portrait photography with a single tap.

Adobe has updated its Lightroom mobile application for iOS, iPadOS, and Android to include an automated tool for correcting closed eyes in photographs. The feature utilizes generative AI to detect subjects with closed eyes and offers a one-tap 'Open Eyes' action to replace them with an open variant.
While this functionality has existed in Adobe’s Photoshop Elements software for nearly a decade, the mobile implementation marks a shift toward generative AI processes rather than sourcing eye data from other images within a user's library. This automation aims to salvage photos that would otherwise be discarded due to blink-related errors.
The update reflects a broader industry trend of integrating generative AI tools directly into consumer mobile software. By lowering the technical threshold for complex photo editing, Adobe intends to keep its mobile user base engaged with its subscription ecosystem.
