Adobe Premiere Pro Video Editor Now Available on Android, Free to Download

Adobe has launched a version of its professional video editing software, Premiere Pro, for Android devices. The application is now available for download on the Google Play Store for most Android devices and is largely free to use. This release addresses a gap in mobile video editing capabilities within the Android ecosystem.

While the Android version does not include every feature found in the desktop application, it represents a significant upgrade from the soon-to-be-retired Premiere Rush. Users can import an unlimited number of video tracks, trim, split, add effects, and export videos in up to 4K resolution. The software also includes functionalities for audio extraction, background noise reduction, and voiceover addition.

The app is optimized for various form factors, including foldable phones, where the user interface adapts to provide more screen real estate. Premiere Pro emphasizes the YouTube Shorts format, defaulting to a 16:9 portrait aspect ratio, though users can change this to more traditional formats. On standard smartphones, the app splits the screen with the timeline at the bottom and the preview at the top, with adjustable divisions.
