Advance Booking for Trains on Beijing-Shanghai Routes Begins Earlier
The railway operator has introduced a new advance booking service for trains on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed and conventional lines. Passengers can now reserve tickets up to 60 days in advance.
China's railway authorities have launched a pilot program for advance ticket booking on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed and conventional rail lines, according to reports from IT Home. The service, which began on July 20, aims to enhance the passenger experience by allowing earlier reservation of tickets.
The new system permits travelers to book tickets up to 60 days prior to their travel date. Tickets for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival are now available for reservation under this scheme. During an interim period from July 20 to August 29, passengers were able to book tickets for dates starting September 15. From August 30 onwards, the system will operate permanently, allowing bookings for tickets between 17 and 60 days before departure.
Under the pilot phase, passengers can submit booking requests daily starting at 8:00 AM for tickets 60 days in advance. Once a request is submitted, the system does not allow modifications to the order. If travel plans change, the original order can be canceled and a new one submitted before ticket redemption. A 5% cancellation fee applies if tickets are canceled 8 to 20 days before departure; cancellations made within 8 days of travel will follow existing pre-sale ticket rules.
This initiative signifies efforts by the railway operator to streamline ticketing processes and provide more flexible travel options on one of China's busiest transportation corridors.
