The company emphasizes that these devices focus on the information being transferred rather than the communication protocols, offering a deeper layer of security than traditional firewalls alone.
Security gateways function as interfaces between different security domains, controlling, validating, and filtering information exchange based on an organization's specific cybersecurity policies. Unlike firewalls that block known malicious traffic, these gateways analyze and transform data, ensuring that only permitted and verified information crosses network boundaries. This approach creates a multi-layered defense and significantly reduces the attack surface.
Advenica highlights the critical need for robust security, particularly for organizations in sectors such as infrastructure, government, industry, and defense. Standard firewalls may prove insufficient on their own, failing to prevent sophisticated attacks or ensure the containment of sensitive data. Security gateways address these vulnerabilities by providing a protocol break and content validation.
