AEM and CGA Expand 811 Safety Messaging for New Equipment Sold in U.S.

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and the Common Ground Alliance (CGA) have announced a partnership to expand 811 safety messaging regarding underground utilities to new construction and agricultural equipment sold in the U.S. This collaboration aims to enhance safety by reducing damage to underground infrastructure during excavation and construction activities.

As part of the agreement, both organizations have adopted a Statement of Shared Principles, emphasizing the importance of consistent guidance and industry best practices for utility locating. The goal is to decrease the incidence of accidental damage and ensure that equipment manufacturers integrate essential 811 information into their new machinery.

"This partnership is crucial for advancing underground damage prevention efforts," stated a representative for AEM. "By ensuring this vital safety information is conveyed with the equipment, we can prevent more damages and protect our infrastructure."
