Afar Sultan Calls for De-Escalation of Ethiopian Conflict

Sultan Ahmed Alimirah of Afar has appealed for international backing for United Nations and African Union initiatives aimed at de-escalating the ongoing conflict within the Afar region of Ethiopia.

In a statement titled "This is Not Our War," the Sultan detailed the suffering of his people amidst the violence. He emphasized the urgent need for dialogue and diplomatic solutions to prevent further bloodshed and destruction.

The Sultanate, historically a center for peace and stability, is directly impacted by the hostilities. Alimirah expressed profound concern over the humanitarian consequences, noting that the Afar people are not belligerents but are enduring the conflict's repercussions.

The statement also called for the international community and regional bodies to actively support the peace process, urging them to facilitate negotiations between all involved parties for a lasting resolution.
