Affirm, a provider of buy now, pay later (BNPL) services, announced a strategic partnership with J.P. Morgan Payments on March 25, 2025. The collaboration aims to integrate Affirm's flexible financing solutions within J.P. Morgan's extensive network of U.S. merchants, offering consumers more payment options and merchants tools to potentially increase sales.

Through this multi-year agreement, merchants utilizing J.P. Morgan's Commerce Platform will be able to offer customers the option to split eligible purchases, ranging from $35 to $30,000, into bi-weekly or monthly payments. These payment plans will span terms from 30 days up to 60 months. Affirm's platform provides underwriting in real-time, reportedly without late or hidden fees.

Merchants may see benefits such as increased conversion rates and higher average order values, with some noting improvements of up to 70% in average order value and nearly 30% fewer abandoned carts compared to other pay-over-time methods. Consumers gain increased purchasing power and more flexible payment choices.

Michael Lozanoff, Global Head of Merchant Services at J.P. Morgan Payments, highlighted the importance of providing services that align with customer expectations. Wayne Pommen, Affirm's Chief Revenue Officer, stated the partnership significantly expands Affirm's reach to a large network of merchants and consumers.

The integration with J.P. Morgan Payments marks a further expansion of Affirm's ecosystem, following previous collaborations with companies like Adyen and Experian. While a specific launch date has not been disclosed, the partnership is expected to enhance both companies' ability to meet the growing consumer demand for diverse payment solutions.
