Afghanistan secures maiden Hong Kong Sixes title
Afghanistan defeated Australia by four wickets in the final of the 2026 Hong Kong Sixes tournament.

Afghanistan claimed its first-ever Hong Kong Sixes title after overcoming Australia in the tournament final. Chasing a target of 116, the Afghan side reached 119/2 in 5.1 overs to secure the victory.
Australia, batting first, set a target of 115 runs, led by Max Bryant’s 44 off 14 deliveries. However, an effective partnership between Imran Mir and Farmanullah Safi allowed Afghanistan to surpass the target efficiently. Imran Mir was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 53 off 14 balls.
Throughout the tournament, Pakistan’s Abbas Afridi led the statistics for total runs and sixes, earning him the Player of the Tournament award. The final marked a significant milestone for the Afghan cricket team in this short-format competition.
