Africa50 Secures $50 Million for Climate-Resilient Projects
Africa50, an investor in African infrastructure, has secured $50 million from international finance institutions to boost early-stage investment for climate-resilient projects across the continent.

The Africa50 initiative has secured US$50 million in investments from international finance institutions to boost early-stage investment for climate-resilient projects across the continent.
Africa50 specializes in African infrastructure development, aiming to de-risk and deliver projects that unlock economic growth. The organization utilizes a continental pipeline, government relationships, and structuring solutions to develop investment-ready projects.
The initiative is backed by 38 shareholders, including 33 African countries, the African Development Bank, and the Central Bank of West African States. New investors include Italy's Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) and Proparco, the private sector financing arm of the Agence française de développement Group (AFD Group).
Africa50's first close in August 2025 raised US$118 million from investors such as the African Development Bank (AfDB), Germany's KfW, the West African Development Bank (BOAD), and the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
The fund aims to raise US$400 million to generate up to US$10 billion in bankable green infrastructure investment opportunities on the continent.
