Agentic AI Poised to Transform Finance Operations

Agentic AI, systems designed to act autonomously on behalf of users, is emerging as a significant development for high-performing finance teams, potentially as impactful as the cloud transition earlier this century.

Unlike generative AI, which produces content on demand, agentic AI monitors business signals, interprets them, and takes initiative without constant human input. These systems can monitor data across multiple sources, identify patterns and exceptions, and then take action or notify users.

"We need AI that's always on, combining reasoning, memory, and autonomy, rather than passively waiting for a prompt," states Aaron Harris, Chief Technology Officer at Sage. This shift means that instead of users seeking insights, insights can find them.

Sage is integrating agentic AI into its offerings via Sage Copilot, embedded in products like Sage Intacct and Sage X3. The service aids in routine tasks such as tracking overdue invoices and reconciliations, and provides real-time insights into inventory and sales. Sage is also partnering with the AICPA to train its models on official content, enhancing its credibility and contextual understanding for finance professionals.
