Agilent Technologies has awarded biotech startup Angiex, Inc. a "Golden Ticket," providing the company with one year of lab bench space at LabCentral in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The award is intended to support Angiex's development of vascular-targeted biotherapeutics for cancer treatment.

Angiex's lead product is an antibody-drug conjugate therapy that has demonstrated effectiveness in regressing highly malignant tumors in mice. The company aims to develop treatments for aggressive human cancers, including pancreatic, lung, and liver cancers, as well as glioblastoma.

"Angiex demonstrated an excellent combination of scientific impact, enthusiasm to collaborate with Agilent, and personal drive to advancing cancer treatments," said Darlene Solomon, Agilent's chief technology officer. She added that Agilent is committed to supporting advancements in bio-pharma startups.

Paul Jaminet, CEO of Angiex, expressed excitement about the award, noting that Agilent's laboratory tools, particularly in chromatography and mass spectrometry, will aid in advancing the company's cancer therapy towards clinical application. He also highlighted the value of the "Golden Ticket" in continuing Angiex's work within the LabCentral ecosystem.

The selection was made by a panel of judges from LabCentral and Agilent after hearing presentations from three semi-finalist companies. This initiative underscores Agilent's role in fostering innovation within the life sciences sector.
