Agilent Introduces 9500 ICP-MS for Trace Element Analysis
Agilent Technologies has launched the 9500 Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS system, designed to enhance measurement speed and simplify workflows. The instrument facilitates easier adoption of advanced elemental analysis for laboratories currently using simpler ICP-MS systems.

Agilent Technologies has introduced the 9500 Triple Quadrupole ICP-MS, a next-generation system for trace element analysis. The new instrument aims to accelerate measurements, simplify workflows, and provide easier access to advanced elemental analysis capabilities for laboratories.
The system addresses growing laboratory demands for faster, interference-free results by improving productivity and simplifying the adoption of advanced interference removal techniques. Key features include Air Cell technology and Advanced Helium Mode (AHM), which enhance measurement accuracy and reduce analytical complexity.
"With the Agilent 9500, we are fundamentally changing how laboratories adopt and use triple quadrupole ICP-MS," said Geoff Winkett, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Spectroscopy and Vacuum Division. "By making advanced capability straightforward and easily accessible, the 9500 enables customers to migrate their existing single quadrupole methods while benefiting from improved productivity and lower cost of ownership."
The system reports a typical reduction of over 33% in acquisition time, contributing to increased sample throughput and reduced analysis costs. Advanced interference removal, including the use of ambient air for reactions, minimizes complexity and reliance on oxygen cylinders, supporting more efficient laboratory operations. The Agilent 9500 ICP-MS is intended for use in environmental, food, pharmaceutical, and chemical laboratories.
