Agilent Technologies has launched the NovoStation Sample Preparation System, an automated platform designed to simplify and streamline sample preparation for flow cytometry laboratories. The system enables a hands-free sample-to-answer workflow when paired with Agilent's NovoCyte flow cytometers and NovoExpress software.
Laboratories in the flow cytometry field face increasing pressure to process more samples and support more complex assays while ensuring reliable results. Manual sample preparation methods can create bottlenecks, introduce variability, and complicate training, impacting research speed and data quality.
NovoStation addresses these challenges by automating onboard reagent cocktailing and sample washing. Direct integration with Agilent flow cytometers reduces manual handling, contributing to more reproducible data. Simplified setup and operation also facilitate standardization across different labs and teams.
According to Agilent, the system has reduced hands-on time by over 90% in validation studies compared to manual processing, while maintaining comparable data quality. For instance, a 25-color immunophenotyping assay required only 7.9 minutes of operator time with NovoStation, versus 85.5 minutes manually.
