Agilent Technologies, Inc. has unveiled its new Seahorse XF T Cell Metabolic Profiling and NK Cell Metabolic Profiling assays. These laboratory tests are designed to accurately measure the energy production and metabolism of both T cells and Natural Killer (NK) cells.

The assays are utilized in fields such as cancer immunotherapy development to study T cell and NK cell metabolism. Research indicates that the metabolic profiles of these cells can influence their ability to destroy cancer cells and form long-lasting memory cells. The new assays help researchers evaluate factors like cell persistence and function under challenging conditions, such as the tumor microenvironment.

According to Agilent, a T cell's metabolic profile, particularly its respiratory capacity and levels of glucose breakdown, may correlate with better cell persistence in circulation and a longer treatment effect. For NK cells, measuring metabolism aids in characterizing cellular attributes vital for optimizing immunotherapy effectiveness.

The products are intended for research use and are not available for general public purchase. Agilent also provides additional resources and technical support for the application of these assays.
