Agilent Names Michael Buckner Chief Legal Officer
Agilent Technologies has appointed Michael Buckner as its new Chief Legal Officer. Buckner brings nearly three decades of experience in global legal executive roles and expertise in complex transactions.
Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) announced on May 4, 2026, the appointment of Michael Buckner as its Chief Legal Officer. Buckner joins the company with nearly three decades of experience as a senior global legal executive.
He has a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams and possesses deep expertise in complex transactions and regulatory environments. Padraig McDonnell, Agilent's president and CEO, stated that Buckner's experience will be key to advancing the company's strategy.
Prior to Agilent, Buckner served at Danaher Corp. as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief M&A Counsel. In this role, he led legal strategy for mergers and acquisitions, antitrust, and intellectual property transactions, overseeing a global team.
Buckner's previous experience includes significant roles at General Electric, where he was the company's lead global lawyer for mergers and acquisitions. He also held legal positions at Capital One Financial Corp. and in private practice. Buckner holds degrees from Rutgers University and the University of Chicago Law School.
