Agilent Technologies adds new assay kit for fatty acid oxidation analysis
Agilent Technologies has released a specialized test kit for its Seahorse XF platform to measure long-chain fatty acid oxidation in living cells.

Agilent Technologies has expanded its cell analysis product line with the introduction of the Seahorse XF Palmitate Oxidation Stress Test Kit. The kit provides researchers with a method to analyze the metabolic processes associated with long-chain fatty acid oxidation, a factor relevant to fields such as oncology, stem cell biology, and immunology.
Designed for use with Seahorse XF analyzers, the kit creates an environment where cells are reliant on palmitate as a primary energy substrate. By introducing specific reagents and inhibitors, such as etomoxir and oligomycin, the assay enables the measurement of basal and maximal respiration rates under defined metabolic conditions.
This analytical tool allows for the evaluation of how various genetic modifications or drug exposures influence cellular fitness and mitochondrial function. The kit is part of a broader suite of diagnostic tools provided by Agilent for real-time metabolic analysis.
