Agilent Technologies completes acquisition of Lasergen
Agilent Technologies has finalized the acquisition of DNA sequencing developer Lasergen for $105 million.

Agilent Technologies has completed the acquisition of Houston-based biotechnology firm Lasergen, Inc. The move concludes a multi-year transition that began in 2016, when Agilent acquired a 48-percent stake in the company alongside a two-year call option for the remaining interest.
Since 2016, the two companies have collaborated on developing clinical workflow solutions for next-generation sequencing. Their joint efforts have centered on integrating Lasergen’s proprietary Lightning Terminators chemistry into Agilent’s diagnostics portfolio.
Sam Raha, president of Agilent’s Diagnostics and Genomics Group, stated that the acquisition aligns with the firm's strategic goal of building an integrated clinical sequencing workflow. Following the transaction, Lasergen’s team has joined Agilent, as both entities work to expand lab access to molecular diagnostics.
