Agilent Technologies Introduces 5987A Mass Spectrometer
Agilent Technologies has launched the 5987A single quadrupole mass selective detector, designed to increase scan speeds and improve energy efficiency in laboratory workflows.
Agilent Technologies has unveiled its 5987A single quadrupole mass selective detector (MSD), a system designed to integrate with the company’s 8890B and 8860B gas chromatographs. Paired with updated MassHunter 14 software, the system aims to improve data quality and laboratory uptime.
The 5987A offers a 25% increase in scan rates compared to predecessor models. New operational modes, such as dynamic SIM (dSIM), allow laboratories to conduct high-sensitivity analysis and full-scan result collection within a single workflow. These features are supported by the Optimizer tool, which automates the creation and management of method databases.
Integrated system monitoring is managed via GC Assist, which tracks over 60 parameters, including potential leaks and power usage. By providing automated notifications and step-by-step troubleshooting assistance, the system seeks to reduce unplanned maintenance. Additionally, the unit operates with 40% lower energy consumption than earlier iterations.
