Agilent's Pathology Business Milestones Since 2001
Agilent Technologies has expanded its pathology diagnostics capabilities through product launches and strategic acquisitions, notably acquiring Dako in 2012.

Agilent Technologies has significantly advanced its position in the pathology diagnostics sector through strategic developments, highlighted by the acquisition of Dako in 2012. This acquisition integrated Dako's extensive portfolio of immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) solutions into Agilent's offerings.
Following the acquisition, Agilent continued to innovate under the Dako brand. The Dako Omnis automated staining solution, designed for high-volume IHC and ISH laboratories, was launched in 2013. Earlier, in 2010, Dako introduced the HER2 CISH pharmDx Kit, expanding access to companion diagnostics for breast cancer.
The company's focus on automation in pathology predates the 2012 acquisition. Key product launches by Dako included the CoverStainer system for automated tissue staining in 2010, the ACIS III image analysis platform, and the first Autostainer for IHC in 1996, demonstrating a long-term commitment to streamlining laboratory workflows.
Agilent's strategy has centered on enhancing diagnostic accuracy and laboratory efficiency. The integration of Dako and subsequent product developments aim to provide comprehensive solutions for cancer diagnostics, reinforcing Agilent's role in the evolving field of pathology.
