Agility Robotics Digit 5 robot to feature NyoBolt fast-charging battery

Agility Robotics is equipping its next-generation Digit 5 humanoid robot with NyoBolt's fast-charging battery technology. A nine-minute charge will reportedly provide 90 minutes of operation.

Agility Robotics is integrating NyoBolt's ultra-fast charging battery technology into its next-generation Digit 5 humanoid robot. This new system is designed to allow the robot to operate for 90 minutes after a charge of just nine minutes, aiming to maximize operational uptime. The company targets over 20 hours of active work within a 24-hour period for the robots, significantly reducing time spent on charging.

Early trials of the Digit 5 robots equipped with this battery system are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027, targeting businesses in manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics. This battery upgrade addresses a key challenge for commercial humanoid robots: balancing substantial working hours with minimal charging interruptions. The previous Digit 4 model had a work-to-charge ratio of 2:1, while the new Digit 5 boasts a 10:1 ratio.

According to Agility Robotics, this enhancement will enable robots to complete more than two full shifts per day, thereby increasing the utilization rate of robot fleets. The company states that increased uptime directly translates to greater business value for its customers. NyoBolt's high-power battery technology provides faster charging, long cycle life, and a smaller, lighter form factor, meeting the demanding requirements of industrial settings.

Agility Robotics recently unveiled the Digit 5, its first humanoid robot designed for safe human-robot collaboration in close proximity. The company is also planning to go public through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, expected to close in Q4 2026. The combined entity will trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker AGLT.
